The Recognition of Arbaeen
The Divine Blessing of Intellect
The blessing of intellect is a divine gift. When it is granted to a servant of God, that person becomes equipped with every form of goodness.
Intellect is a light that leads its possessor out of the darkness of illusion and through the veils of ignorance. It elevates a person to the position of a guide and a source of direction for others.
The wise people of a community are its true leaders. By following their direction, people may attain a pure and wholesome life. Intellect is the recipient of God’s words, and those who possess true intellect become the bearers of His message.
The station of true intellectual and spiritual understanding can only be reached by walking upon the path of Imam Hussain (p). When a servant enters this sacred sanctuary with the devotion of a pilgrim entering the state of ihram, they become like Kalimullah—one who speaks intimately with God and calls upon Him in prayer.
The truly wise are those about whom it has been said:
⚜️ الْمُؤْمِنُ كَيِّسُ الْفِطَنِ
“The believer is intelligent, perceptive, and aware.”
⚜️ اتَّقُوا فَرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللهِ
“Beware of the spiritual insight of the believer, for indeed, the believer sees through the light of God.”
A believer endowed with intellect is alert, insightful, and spiritually perceptive.
Their wisdom is reflected in the fact that, during the very beginning of their youth, they discovered the reality and purpose of existence. They defined their entire lives upon the great highway of the Straight Path—a path spiritually embodied between the two sacred shrines of Karbala.
How beautifully they will answer the questioning angels, Nakir and Munkar, on the first night in the grave when they are asked:
⚜️ فِيمَا أَفْنَيْتَ شَبَابَكَ؟
“In what did you spend your youth?”
Those who spent their lives carried upon the wings of the angels, among those who are:
⚜️ مَشْغُولَةٌ بِذِكْرِ اللهِ
“Occupied with the remembrance of God,”
will have no answer other than:
“In the path of Imam Hussain (p).”
They truly prepared provisions for their journey into the Hereafter. What provision could be greater or more virtuous than weeping for Imam Hussain (p) and walking upon his path?
This is the source of all goodness in existence.
⚜️ إِنَّمَا يُدْرَكُ الْخَيْرُ كُلُّهُ بِالْعَقْلِ
“All goodness can only be attained through intellect.”
These people have carried the light of intellect within themselves. They have become guides and teachers for humanity, and how beautifully they will intercede for their communities.
⚜️ زَائِرُ الْحُسَيْنِ مُشَفَّعٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
“The pilgrim of Imam Hussain (p) will be granted the ability to intercede on the Day of Resurrection.”
The place where Imam Hussain (p) fell is the only point throughout the worlds of existence where the reality of intellect becomes one with the reality of love.
There, intellect and love convey one single meaning:
⚜️ هَاهُنَا مَصَارِعُ الْعُشَّاقِ وَمُنَاخُ الرِّكَابِ
“Here is the resting place of the lovers and the place where the travelers dismount.”
These lovers are the people of intellect, and the truly wise members of a community are themselves the lovers.
Where Intellect and Love Become Complete
Those who possess intellect and love in their most complete and perfect forms are the people who have dissolved themselves in devotion to Imam Hussain (p).
They have reached the station of Kalimullah—the station of intimate conversation with God.
To the extent that a servant travels upon this path and carries its spiritual understanding, that servant receives a share of the light of true intellect. They begin to speak with God and call upon Him in intimate supplication.
Prophet Musa (p) went to Mount Sinai to meet his Lord. After weeping for Imam Hussain (p) and hearing the account of his suffering, Musa was strengthened by the light of intellect and attained the station of Kalimullah:
✨ وَكَلَّمَ اللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكْلِيمًا
“And God spoke directly to Musa.”
The transformation of the copper of human existence into pure gold, and the elevation of the human being toward the greater universe contained within them, can only be achieved upon the plains of Taff in Nineveh—the land of Karbala.
⚜️ أَتَزْعَمُ أَنَّكَ جِرْمٌ صَغِيرٌوَفِيكَ انْطَوَى الْعَالَمُ الْأَكْبَرُ
“Do you imagine that you are merely a small body, while within you the greater universe has been contained?”
The Ark of Imam Hussain (p) is the greatest elixir and the most precious red ruby.
It recognizes no distinction of color, ethnicity, education, nationality, or border. It exists to rescue humanity from the confusion of misguidance and to illuminate people’s hearts.
🍃 All that is required is for you to show sincere devotion so that you may receive a share of its blessings.
How unfortunate are those who remain imprisoned by the charm of status, power, and the decorations of this world.
They are deceived, lost in the darkness of the night, and blind in heart. They have clung to a mirage, while their weakened vision and sealed hearts cannot recognize or benefit from the pure and ever-flowing water of divine guidance.
They falsely claim to possess intellect, knowledge, and love, while in reality they are no more than ignorant and uneducated people.
They are:
⚜️ هَمَجٌ رَعَاعٌ
“Thoughtless followers who move with every voice.”
They will leave no meaningful trace upon the pages of history, for the destiny of the world is shaped by the wise lovers of Imam Hussain (p).

🍃 Every night, longing to see you, O Flower of Narcissus,I sit and wait along your path, O Flower of Narcissus…
✍️ When the Heart of the Believer Becomes God’s Throne
There comes a moment when:
⚜️ قَلْبُ الْمُؤْمِنِ عَرْشُ الرَّحْمٰنِ
“The heart of the believer becomes the Throne of the Most Merciful.”
It is the moment when the dome of Imam Hussain (p) is reflected within the spiritual presence of his pilgrims, and the faces of the pilgrims become manifestations of the signs of God.
How beautiful it would be to behold the radiance of your face reflected in the faces of the pilgrims of your oppressed grandfather, my master and my leader.
▫️ يَا مَنْ قَدْ آثَرَ هَجْرَانِيوَعَلَيَّ بِلُقْيَاهُ اسْتَأْثَرْ
O you who have chosen to remain distant from me, while keeping the privilege of meeting entirely for yourself.
▫️ أَقْسَمْتُ عَلَيْكَ بِمَا أَوْلَتْكَالنَّضْرَةُ مِنْ حُسْنِ الْمَنْظَرْ
I implore you by the beauty and freshness that have been granted to your radiant appearance.
▫️ وَبِوَجْهِكَ إِذْ يَحْمَرُّ حَيَاءًوَبِوَجْهِ مُحِبِّكَ إِذْ يَصْفَرْ
By your face when it becomes red from modesty, and by the face of your lover when it becomes pale.
▫️ وَبِلُؤْلُؤِ مَبْسَمِكَ الْمَنْظُومِوَلُؤْلُؤِ دَمْعِي إِذْ يُنْثَرْ
By the pearls arranged within your smile, and by the pearls of my tears as they fall.
▫️ أَنْ تَتْرُكَ هَذَا الْهَجْرَ فَلَيْسَيَلِيقُ بِمِثْلِي أَنْ يُهْجَرْ
Abandon this separation, for it is not fitting that one such as me should remain forsaken.
